An Opportunity to Ramble

All Right!
So this is my first blog post. . . . Yeah. Not sure what I am supposed to do here. I am planning on making this a sort of running journal of what we are doing and what tickles my funny bone.

This morning when I woke up I suddenly remembered what I had forgotten to do yesterday; stretch after kicking class. I got to do my little-old-lady impersonation on my way down the hall. I haven't given such a convincing performance for a good six months now, thanks to BSN John for that one. I had to strong arm Topher into eating breakfast, and he got to use his new backpack for the first time. We bought it because he wasn't bringing his homework home because his binder was too big to fit in his then current backpack. I then did four miles with Brandilynn, and two miles by my lonesome.

After my breakfast I fought a pitched battle with the sink traps in my bathrooms upstairs. Yesterday, I bought a strap wrench to help me loosen the nuts on the pipes, after an hour and a half the score stood at Sarah-1, Sink Traps-2. And the one sink trap I got into was the one that needed it the least. After that I enjoyed lunch out, because if I had stayed around any longer I might have taken a hammer to them. Mike tried when he got home tonight and only succeeded in breaking my new $3.58 wrench. I am beginning to wonder if someone cemented them closed to prevent leakage or something. Mike is going to get a pipe wrench tomorrow.

Errands after lunch netted me fixings for dinner: lettuce, tomatoes and buns. I just barely managed to get out of Albertsons' without something chocolate or frosted but it was close. In Marshals' I grabbed a new pillow to sleep on. The last one split its fluffy stuff down the middle the last time I washed it, and while still useable, was giving me a crick in the neck. I also picked up a new pair of sunglasses, not sure how these are going to work, the wrap-around is a new look for me. Lastly I got my five minutes of zen in while going through the car-wash. When your car starts growing moss, you know live in Oregon.

Later I got to do my favorite thing, laundry. I use the word "favorite" as either a derogatory term or as a sort of personal incentive to make me want to do it more. Such as when BSN Sam asks me to do burpies, which are my favorite exercise, sort of a push up and a jump squat combined. :) I get to use it as both.

All afternoon I got to yell at Topher, who doesn't like yelling, poor thing he really should have had a sibling it wouldn't be so quiet all the time. I got an email from one of his teachers yesterday stating that he was behind again on his work, and I knew nothing about it, because Topher never brings ANYTHING home (reference earlier thoughts on backpacks). Today he only brought home one of his four missing assignments which I had asked him this morning to retrieve from school. He also didn't bring all of that task home with him, so was unable to finish it. He really is doing well in school, however his organizational skills still need some polishing up. As you probably know the kid is in 5th grade, but his language arts and math courses are at the sixth grade level. He has all the responsibilities expected of a twelve year old, but still lacks confidence.

Last things, dinner, scouts, trying to figure heads or tails of my family tree. On which I am seriously lost. Oh, and I have a half-uncle named Theopolos and a half-aunt named Eris.

Jokes for the day:  Stop clubbing, baby seals! (another life saved by grammar)
Grammar: the difference between "knowing you're crap" and "knowing your crap."
